Missing SKU ID in the Add to Cart Event

Problem and Background

The Add to Cart event contains a “sku” parameter that captures the SKU ID of the product added to the cart. If this parameter in this event is empty or missing, there is an error.

Debugging Steps

  1. Reach out to Bloomreach Support for a list of URLs where “sku” is not set on the Add to Cart events.
  2. Go to that URL. It is usually a product URL.
  3. Add the product on the page to the cart. An Add to Cart event is generated.
  4. Verify the event to check if the sku attribute is empty.
  5. Bloomreach’s Pixel Checker Chrome extension also flags this pixel issue since “sku” is a required field for Add to Cart event.

Common Causes

  • The most common reason for this error is that the pixel implementation is not capturing the sku for the Add to Cart event.
  • No SKU IDs associated with the products.

Solution

Once you have debugged the issue, reproduce the issue and using the Simple Pixel tool, fix the pixel implementation. Reach out to the Bloomreach Support team if you have any questions and are not able to solve the issue.
In case your products contain only product IDs and no SKU IDs, request the Bloomreach Support team to mute the alert for missing SKU ID.
