Apply Bulk Operations
After you have selected products for Bulk Operations, you can apply Bulk Operations to them. Use one of these methods to apply Bulk Operations:
Apply Bulk Operations Using the Dropdown Menu
- Enable Bulk Operation mode using one of the methods described in the Select Products for Bulk Operations page.
- Select all the products you would like to apply Bulk Operations to. Operations are applied in the same order as the selection sequence.
- Select a merchandising operation from the dropdown menu to perform on the selected products.
Note: While you can select up to 1024 products, each individual operation has its own limit. Kindly consider these limits before bulk-selecting products:- Lock up to 100 items
- Boost to top up to 100 items
- Bury to bottom up to 500 items
- Block up to 900 items
- Add to recall up to 200 items
All the operations together do not exceed a total of 1024 operations.
Suppose you bulk-select 200 products. You can boost up to 100 products or lock up to 100 products at once. The individual operation limits will still apply as specified above.
Merchandising operation | Description |
---|---|
Boost to Top | Applies Boost to Top to the selected products. In the Visual Editor, the order of selected products will be in the order in which the products are selected, and these multi selected products will be placed after the existing “Boost to Top” products. For Product Boost to Top, the order is dynamic and the Visual Editor may not reflect the API output. Use the Preview function to view the exact API output. If there are multiple products "Boosted to Top", then within the boosted products, the position will change based on Bloomreach's ranking algorithm. Boost to Top has a limit of 100 products total within a single query/category. Operations are canceled if they would cause you to exceed the limit. This limit does not apply to attribute-based rules. |
Bury to Bottom | Applies Bury to Bottom to the selected products. In the Visual Editor, the order of selected products will be in the order in which the products are selected, and these multi selected products will be placed after the existing “Bury to Bottom” products. For Product Bury to Bottom, the order is dynamic and the Visual Editor may not reflect the API output. Use the Preview function to view the exact API output. If there are multiple products "Bury to Bottom", then within the buried products, the position will change based on Bloomreach's ranking algorithm. Bury to Bottom has a limit of 500 products total within a single query/category. Operations are canceled if they would cause you to exceed the limit. This limit does not apply to attribute-based rules. |
Lock in Place | Locks the selected products in their current slot. Lock operations are limited to 100 products total within a single query/category, and only to the first 100 slots in the Product Grid. Operations are canceled if they would cause you to exceed the limit. Lock operations have additional rules for conflict resolution. |
Lock Position # | Locks the selected products into slots, starting from a specific slot number. See the Bulk Lock Position section for more details. Lock operations are limited to 100 products total within a single query/category, and only to the first 100 slots in the Product Grid. Operations are canceled if they would cause you to exceed the limit. Lock operations have additional rules for conflict resolution. |
Block | Adds the selected products to the blocklist. There is no cap for Block operations, but we recommend a limit of 900 products to avoid performance issues. If you try to block more than 900 products, a warning will be displayed. If you would like to block more than 900 products, we recommend using attribute exclude rules instead. |
Clear operations | Clears any customisations from the selected products. These products will reset to their algorithm-defined ranking. In the Changes tab, you can select all products with a specific operation applied. For example, you can clear all Boosted Products, or clear all Locked Products, etc. |
- Select Apply to apply the bulk operation.
- Your current selection will be cleared after the operation is applied. Note the symbols in the upper left of the product card, which indicate which operation was applied.
- After applying an operation, the products will remain highlighted and a confirmation message will be displayed at the top of the screen. You can select Undo to undo the previous operation and reselect the products from that operation.
Bulk Lock Position
If you apply a Lock Position # operation, the Slot Position menu will appear.
In the Slot Position menu, select a slot position to bulk lock the selected products. The first selected product (that is, with a number “1” above it) will be locked in that position, and the remaining products in the current selection will be locked in subsequent order after the first product.
For example, suppose you have four products and select p5 as the first slot. Product 1 will be placed in p5, Product 2 in p6, Product 3 in p7, and Product 4 in p8. After selecting the slots, click Confirm.
Apply Bulk Operations using Drag and Drop
Drag and drop can be used for two types of operations:
- Adding products from the left-hand search panel to the Product Grid, which locks them in position.
- Locking products in the Product Grid into position.
Drag and drop to add products from search
- In the left-hand search panel, search for products to add. Remember you can bulk search using PIDs.
- Bulk-select the products you want to add.
- Drag and drop the selected products onto the Product Grid to the desired slot.
The added products will be locked in position based on the selection order.
Note: If you drag and drop products onto slots occupied by locked products, a confirmation message will inform you that the slots are already in use. Select Continue to proceed with the operation, which will lock your selected products into those slots and lock the previously locked products into the next available slots.
Drag and drop to lock products into Product Slots
-
In the Visual Editor, bulk select the products you want to lock.
-
Drag and drop the products to the desired slot. The added products will be locked in position, based on the order they were selected.
