How Variant slicing works

This guide overviews how the Variant slicing feature works.

Overview

Your catalog may contain products with multiple variants, each with different attributes, such as color, size, or style. While the parent product shares common properties (like title and description), individual variants have distinct values for specific attributes.

The following steps allow you to split variants by their attributes.

1. Configure Variant slicing attributes

Select variant attributes for Variant slicing.

2. Create Variant slicing rules

In the Product grid editor:

  • Select a variant attribute. Each product splits into separate grid listings for each unique attribute value.
  • Merchandise “sliced” products.

For example, you select the attribute “color” for Variant slicing. A “dress” product with blue, red, and green variants becomes three distinct listings in the product grid. Since it's the holiday season, you boost the red and green variants.
