🚀 Release 2024-71

Release date: October 7, 2024

TL;DR : New Discovery home experience, launch of multi-language Semantic Search for more languages, Events management general availability announcement, and improvements in context-aware reporting. Fixed bugs to enhance performance.

🎉 Feature updates

1. Guided Discovery experience with new dashboard home

We are happy to launch a brand new homepage that offers a structured and intuitive way to navigate through Discovery features. This will be your default landing screen once you log into the dashboard.

What’s new?

  1. Convenient feature access: Find quick links to access frequently used dashboard features under the Quick start section.

  1. Improved onboarding experience: New accounts will see an additional Setup guide banner at the top that links to our new Onboarding Setup guide.

Clicking the “Show me” button opens the Setup guide. We have designed this guide to support your onboarding journey with suitable knowledge and resources.

How is this useful?

The new homepage provides a convenient head start, enhancing and streamlining your experience with the Discovery dashboard.

Sharing your feedback

We welcome and encourage your feedback as we will continue to enhance the homepage in future iterations. Please share your feedback by clicking on the feedback option “💡Share my suggestions”.

2. Multi-language Semantic Search support

Following up on our last multi-language Semantic Search release, we are excited to extend Semantic Search capabilities to catalogs in Albanian, Danish, Estonian, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Norwegian, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Turkish, Ukrainian.

What’s new?

  • Optimized ranking: Semantic Search identifies the product types from user queries and product data for the above-mentioned non-English languages. This product type information is then used to optimize ranking, especially for torso/tail query ranking and provides more accurate results.

  • Improved recall: Semantic Search leverages smart query relaxation to show similar products when we can’t find exact matches. For example, in Italian, if the user searches for “felpa uomo” (Men's sweatshirt) but the site does not have any products, the query will be relaxed to “felpa”(sweatshirt). This reduces null results and improves the shopper experience.

What is coming next?

  1. Semantic Search for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Finnish catalogs will be rolled out in October 2024.
  2. We plan to support the following semantic features by November 2024 (tentative).

For a comparison of features available in English versus non-English search, please refer to the feature support table.

How is this useful?

The abovementioned language catalogs can now leverage semantic understanding to optimize search ranking and recall. This enhances the overall product discovery experience.

Feature access

By default, all new and existing customers with the abovementioned language catalogs will have access. Visit the documentation article to learn more.

If you wish to enable query relaxation to product type:

  • Live customers can enable query relaxation on the dashboard.
  • Integrating customers will have access to query relaxation by default with this release.

The above applies to all non-English languages.

Improvements

1. Events Management General Availability (GA) launch

We are happy to share that the Events Management application, previously in BETA, is now generally available! To access this feature, request your IAM Admin to grant you the Events management User - Read Only role.

Feature refresher

Events Management facilitates the pixel integration process with real-time insights, provides finer control over your site's event tracking, and enables data-backed debugging.

What improved?

We have added the following refinement with this release.

  • Device class field: The Derived Properties section now has a new "Device class" field. This field categorizes devices as "Desktop," "Mobile," "Tablet," "Other," or "Unknown" in the same way as you can find in Insights and Analytics reports. This lets you see how the pixel tracks and maps the device classes.

For continuous improvements, we encourage you to continue sharing your feedback using the feedback button.

2. New improved Overall performance analytics reports

Multi-site context-aware ’Overall performance’ reports are now available for both Site search and Categories in the dashboard. These reports can be found at:

  • Insights > Site search analytics > Overall performance
  • Insights > Category analytics > Overall performance

What improved?

  • Overall performance reports are calculated and displayed separately for all applicable site levels in your organization.
  • A new Context label under the report title shows which site/account/site group the report is calculated for.

For more information on Analytics reports, refer to the Analytics essentials guide.

3. Improved search experience for Finnish catalogs

Finnish search recall is now even better with the latest enhancements.

What improved?

  • We have improved the handling of compound words in Finnish. This enables the search engine to split and understand Finnish compound words accurately.

  • Search recall for Finnish queries is more relevant.

🐛Bug fixes

  1. Category Ranking rules UI: The category search bar had a functional issue where searching using category names returned an error. This has been fixed, and you should now be able to search using category names.

  2. Insights: There were issues with accessing the Collections report at the site level. Earlier, users could view reports at the account level but could not access site-level reports. We have resolved this issue.

  3. Events Management Real-time segments validation: We have improved the Real-time segment property validation and added new error messages, allowing a more transparent and comprehensive understanding of how the pixel tracks the cdp_segments property.
