Hippo Project Setup - BloomReach Experience - Open Source CMS

This article covers a Hippo CMS version 10. There's an updated version available that covers our most recent release.

Hippo Project Setup

Hippo CMS provides you with a host of functionality, plug-ins and extension points. To jump-start new Hippo CMS projects as well as to ease the learning curve for fresh Hippo Developers, Hippo CMS sports a setup application.

The Getting Started Trail explains how to use it to start developing your own Hippo project.

What is the setup application?

The Hippo setup application consists of a setup and configuration Dashboard web application (abbr. Dashboard) and a set of plugins which represent project features or development tools. The Dashboard is intended to run on the development host. It guides the Hippo Developer through the most common steps necessary to build a Hippo CMS project, reducing the need to have in-depth Hippo knowledge, and providing help and documentation along the way.

Who should use the setup application?

We believe that every Hippo Developer should use the setup application when setting up a new project. The setup application is supposed to help novice Hippo Developers to get a new project going the right way. At the same time, the setup application implements Hippo CMS best practices and helps saving time, which every Hippo Developer can benefit from.

When can I get it?

Now. The setup application focuses on new Hippo CMS projects, based on Hippo CMS 7.9 or later.

Where can I get it?

The setup application is a publicly available open source tool. It is included in the Hippo project archetype, which is the recommended way to start a new Hippo CMS project. A Trail is available to get you started.
